So excited it is
~*CiNcO De MaYo*~! I feel like it will be the first time that I will be able to celebrate and have Mexican with some friends. For the last 5 years, I have had a final the next morning. Now I have work, which is still bad, but I am not gonna let that stop me. Tonight I also get to pick up our Relay for Life shirts and I get to see our location. I am really excited!
========= BEWARE: Angry Rant Ahead =========
Not to be a bitch, well, okay to be a bitch, the support of charities that I take part in has been SO AWFUL! Let me describe more of what I mean... Each year I support over 5 charities and do 2 main charity events-
MS Walk and
Relay for Life. This is the first year that I have had my own team for
Relay for Life. For the Last year and last month I went in support of Johns Creek Kiwanis Club so I never did any type of recruiting. For
MS Walk last year out of 12 girls we had 2 come and walk
. They both brought their families, etc. It was beautiful weather and we all had a great time. This year for
Relay for Life, I have 21 players and set a goal for 500.00 and to have 10
people players show up. I also invited a lot of my closer friends. I thought this would be easily obtainable. Right now we have $95.00 and about 6 people coming... including my parents (amazing supporters). Because of the lack of support of
Relay for Life I haven't even tried to push mu players to do
MS Walk. When I set
Relay for Life up, I asked for no money, i just wanted to give the girls an opportunity to experience it. I can understand people saying they are tight on money...but time!? I work from 8-5 managing 3 companies, I have my own volleyball club that I run, Just started a new business set to start launch next month, I am a newlywed with a house, husband & some 4 legged children to take care of, I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and I am trying to catch up on some scrapbooking... So I am kinda busy and don't have much time- but I think I can spare sometime between 7pm and 7am this Fri/Sat for
Relay for Life and 8am to noon next Saturday for the
MS Walk. I have watched friends who have had family members with cancer and everyday on TV you hear another story about someone losing their battle with cancer. I feel like if some people are not directly touched by the diseases then they just don't care. (Not All- SOME) I do this to help the people that have it now and to prevent people from getting it in the future! UGH! It is so frustrating! Some people have true excuses, no problem. Its the other people who just don't respond the people who just go out instead. Do you think that I forgot I sent you an email??
I will stop at that since I feel like it is going to take me to another rant off this topic. Anyways, I have 2 days left and am hoping that more girls will show up then are planning on it right now. I do want to thank my really good friends because I know a couple are coming to visit me/hang out with me and it means the world. Also I want to thank my friend Erin, one of my players parents and my parents for donating to this great cause! You are all
HEROS for helping to find a cure and for helping tons of people that you don't even know. It means so much! I am also very happy to say that Atlanta Extreme supports all charities and has generously donated to causes and plans to continue to do that year after year. This year in our first year we have donated over $600.00 and countless hours to multiple charities.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't come back with a similar rant on Monday!
